Neurodiversity: Champion Workshop
Help create a more neuroinclusive culture with a practical workshop that gives learners the confidence to champion understanding, acceptance and support across your organisation.

Neurodiversity: Champion Workshop
The Neurodiversity: Champion Workshop is a half-day course designed for people who want to become Neurodiversity Champions. It supports learners to better understand neurodiversity, educate others and help drive positive culture change in workplaces, clinical settings, care environments, classrooms and wider teams.
This neurodiversity workshop builds on the Neurodiversity: Aware Webinar and explores how neurodivergent colleagues may experience work, communication, learning, sensory environments and support. It is practical, thoughtful and designed to help learners move from awareness into meaningful action.
Delivered by Changing Minds Training, the workshop helps organisations build confidence around neurodiversity inclusion in a warm, accessible and supportive way.
What is the Neurodiversity: Champion Workshop
The Neurodiversity: Champion Workshop is a practical training session for people who want to become active advocates for neurodiversity inclusion.
A Neurodiversity Champion is someone who helps raise awareness, challenge assumptions, support better conversations and encourage more inclusive ways of working. They do not need to be experts or clinicians. Their role is to help others understand neurodiversity with greater empathy, confidence and care.
This workshop explores the main neurodivergent conditions, strengths commonly associated with each, executive functioning, sensory overload, communication, anxiety, reasonable adjustments and the importance of responding with support rather than judgement.
The Neurodiversity: Aware Webinar is a mandatory prerequisite for the Champion Workshop, helping learners arrive with a shared foundation of understanding before moving into more practical champion-focused learning.

What does the workshop cover?
The Neurodiversity: Champion Workshop explores practical areas that help learners understand, support and advocate for neurodiversity inclusion.
Understanding neurodiversity
Learners begin by recapping neurodiversity terminology and the main neurodivergent conditions. This helps create a shared language and foundation for the rest of the workshop.
The session also explores strengths commonly associated with different neurodivergent profiles and how these may present at work.
Executive functioning
Learners explore executive functioning, what it means and how it can affect daily life, planning, focus, organisation and task management.
A hands-on activity helps learners better understand how executive functioning challenges can feel in practice.
Inclusion and lived experience
The workshop explores why neurodiversity inclusion matters within wider diversity and inclusion work.
Learners also consider school trauma and how previous experiences can affect confidence, self-esteem and learning new skills later in life.
Communication
Clear communication is a key part of neuroinclusive practice.
Learners explore how complex communication can be, why communication breakdowns are rarely one-sided and how clearer approaches can help reduce frustration, misunderstanding and low morale.
Sensory overload
The workshop introduces sensory overload and explores how meltdowns and shutdowns can happen and affect people.
Learners consider practical ways to build more inclusive, sensory-safe working environments.
Anxiety and wellbeing
Learners explore how anxiety can be triggered by external factors and how to recognise and regulate it in themselves and others.
The workshop also includes practical tools for a mental health and wellbeing toolbox to support yourself and others in moments of distress or difficulty.
Behaviour as communication
The workshop encourages learners to understand behaviour as communication.
This helps shift the focus away from judgement and towards curiosity, support and practical problem-solving.
Supporting colleagues and reasonable adjustments
Learners explore how to support self-identified neurodivergent colleagues with kindness, respect and an awareness of appropriate responsibilities.
The workshop also looks at the positive impact of reasonable adjustments and where to start when implementing them.
What Will Learners Receive?
Learners will receive a practical half-day workshop that helps them build the confidence and understanding to act as Neurodiversity Champions within their organisation.
